  • Pupils are told to behave in a sensible manner and to not play on the stairs if using Theatre.

  • A symbol is hit to indicate pupils should stop what they are doing at sit down straight away.

  • Pupils asked to remove items such as tight ties,
  • jewellery etc prior to workshop if deemed to be unsuitable for workshop.

  • Schools are informed in advance about hairdressing and make up and it is the responsibility of school to inform museum staff any child is know to have an allergic reaction to hairdressing or beauty products or if parents do not want child to have these products applied.

  • No child is made to have scars or wounds applied if they do not want them.
  • If any child feels faint when they see the wounds and scars they are removed straight away.

  • Pupils are told to pass the artefacts around carefully and be careful when handling them.

  • Risk of getting stuck in the lift
  • Children should not
  • use the lift unless accompanying an adult and another child who has to use the life e.g. in a wheelchair.

  • If museum staff see children near to lifts without an adult accompanying them they should send them back to their school group.

Break for lunch and drinks in required.

  • Hunger, dehydration and needing rest
  • Rooms are available for pupils to eat lunch in and lunch breaks are scheduled in timetable for the day. Pupils can have access to their coats and bags at any time if food or drink is need during workshops.

  • Teachers should ensure that any child who needs to keep food or drink with them does so.
  • Teachers to ensure that all pupils bring a packed lunch and drink with them if visiting for the day.

Working on lawn if hot and sunny

  • Pupils only work outside for a limited amount of time.
  • Drinks to be taken with pupils if required.
  • Pupils should avoid direct contact with any insects they find.

  • Teachers informed in advance that group may be working outside for some of the day and to ensure they have suitable drinks, sun protection and hats if required
