The Collection

Dover Museum has a strong, fascinating collection. Its artefacts and exhibits date from the Anglo-Saxon period to the present day and provide a wonderful insight into the history of Dover.

• Puritan Pocket Watch : Oval silver Puritan watch (1857)
• The Deal Man : A 7" (18cm) high carved chalk figurine found in 1987 by the Dover Archaeological Group (1991)
• The Dover Saxon Ring : A magnificent and important Anglo Saxon Gold ring, Mid-6th Century (c.550AD)
• 460 Postcards of Dover : A local man had been collecting postcards of Dover for over 25 years. (2007)
• Polar Bear : the Koettlitz Polar Bear (June 1998).
• Bone Ship : an intricately carved bone Prisoner-of-war crafted model ship (July 1998).
• Amphora shaped glass jar : Roman archaeological find from the Deal Archaeological Collection (August 1998)
